The positions currently open include:

Senior Buyer

Job Summary:
Coordinates the planning and procurement activity of material utilizing QAD ERP/MRP for electronics, electro-mechanical, medical disposables, packaging, optics, fabricated and machined metal, castings, molded plastics, materials, parts, equipment and other material and supplies for the Company. The Senior Buyer develops supplier partnerships and risk mitigation plans. In addition, they develop and implement sourcing strategies, ensuring continuity of supply at the best quality and price to support production and R&D development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Planning and executing all procurement activity utilizing MRP and other methods to ensure best price, highest quality and on-time delivery
  • Managing complex contracts for Kanban and high-dollar, high-risk items
  • Sourcing suppliers with quick-turn delivery to support R&D development
  • Coordinating all activities related to procurement of a commodity, beginning with intent to purchase through delivery
  • Investigating and/or interviewing potential suppliers to determine if they meet the specified requirements, and advising management on the appropriate supplier to be used
  • Analyzing the requirements of the commodity; negotiating the lowest possible cost for the commodity balanced against the preferred supplier, the optimum quality and schedule needs
  • Conducting supplier meetings with internal customers as required; conducting audits, assessments and business reviews; preparing supplier report cards and metrics for supplier performance monitoring
  • Assuring that the commodity is delivered on scheduled, at the negotiated price, and meets the quality standards of the Company
  • Maintaining timely control of orders, amendments, contract, shipping notices and other documents to assure accurate retention or records
  • Coordinating all supplier activity to develop partnerships and risk mitigation activities to ensure continuity of supply at the best price and quality
  • Managing heavy material change to minimize scrap and obsolesce, due to design changes during transition into commercial launch

Education and Job Requirements:

  • High-school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Seven to 10 years Purchasing/Supply Chain experience in the medical device industry
  • CPIM/CPM/Supply Chain Management Certifications/Classes preferred
  • GMP/ISO experience
  • QAD ERP software experience Cebos/Agile or electronic doc control system

Expected Competencies:

Technical

  • Managing complex purchasing contracts for Kanban and high-dollar suppliers
  • Performing make vs. buy outsourcing analysis for high-dollars, complex assemblies
  • Extensive experience working with machine shops, sheet metal and electronics suppliers
  • Working with incoming inspection and suppliers to resolve first-article and dimensional issues for corrective action

Positional Experience

  • Preparing formal RFI and RFQs; analyzing quotes and preparing cost comparison reports
  • Purchasing commodities for laser systems and disposable products
  • Sox and financial controls and compliance
  • Working in a start-up environment to support R&D development transitioning into commercial launch
  • Previous start-up environment experience where you can easily adapt to multiple hats and adopt flexibility to change and pioneer new processes
  • QAD knowledge and implementation experience for purchasing and MRP modules
  • Planning and executing material where design changes are managed to minimize scrap and obsolescence
  • Purchasing experience in a medical device company
  • Interacting and managing suppliers; conducting business meetings, both oral and written, with some travel required
  • Advising management on sourcing suppliers to be used to support commercial launch
  • Negotiation training or certifications for sole source, high-risk suppliers

Doc/Quality Experience

  • ECO implementation using an electronic doc control system (CEBOS), Agile or other systems
  • Knowledge of CE-Mark, GMP, FDA, MDR(s) and ISO13485

Systems Experience

  • QAD/ERP System and Cebos or Agile electronic document control system use and implementation

Communication Skills:
Needs to have the ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Must write routine reports, procedures and correspondences, and speak effectively before groups of customers, suppliers and employees of organization.

Computer Skills:

  • ERP/MRP, Electronic Doc Control System, MS Word, MS Excel

Senior Engineer—Technical Support and Equipment Education

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Providing technical and field service support
  • Providing timely and accurate feedback to the Technical and Clinical R&D teams relating to product field performance, including future design input
  • Providing technical support remotely, on site and via escalation management
  • Providing technical training by mentoring, coaching and assisting new employees and/or distributors
  • Assisting in recruiting, interviewing and performance development, as well as OJT of Field Service Engineer personnel globally
  • Supporting the development of individual training plans to support the on-going development of new Field Service Engineers
  • Supporting the Corporate Technical group in the development of standardizing training, certification of FSE(s) and distributors
  • Developing technical training course contents and materials
  • Developing service bulletins and field notification process

Education and Job Requirements:

  • Technical degree in Engineering or Equivalent/Comparable Technology
  • Continued education via company product training and OJT

Expected Competencies:

Technical

  • Detailed laser knowledge and service competency in medical systems
  • Electrical/Electronic, mechanical and optical systems level training
  • System level installation, testing, troubleshooting and repair
  • Comprehensive and data driven troubleshooting skills
  • Skilled in using written/oral/schematic/diagram engineering instructions

Positional Experience

  • Customer environment experience (appearance/communication/conduct)
  • Service standards/account ownership/customer satisfaction/escalation
  • Customer service, field service, technical support and training in medical devices
  • Experience in ophthalmic lasers from ultra violet to infrared spectrum
  • Ability to solve practical problems while dealing with multiple variables
  • Ability to interact with diverse, cross-cultural group of people

Doc/Quality Experience

  • Technical writing and procedure compliance (SOP, WI and Technical)
  • Knowledge of CE-Mark, GMP, FDA, MDR(s) and ISO13485

Systems Test Engineer

Job Summary:
Develops systems test processes and conducts final functional testing and verification on integrated laser systems by performing the following duties:

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develops final system test processes by working with the R&D engineering leads
  • Conducts testing according to SOP utilizing a variety of complex electrical, optical and mechanical test and measurement equipment
  • Provides feedback to organization to improve product design and performance, as well as testing methods
  • Confers with scientific, engineering, and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data and data interpretation
  • Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports to document results in accordance with SOP and FDA requirements
  • Trains manufacturing and field service personnel on systems test processes, including troubleshooting

Education and Job Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree (B.S.) Electrical Engineer/Physics plus seven to ten years related experience in a manufacturing test environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Expected Competencies:

Technical

  • Experience with solid state lasers, which includes aligning according to power and beam shape.
  • Optical alignment and knowledge of optical properties is desired.
  • Ability to interpret system and PCBA schematics.
  • Working knowledge of oscilloscopes, DMM’s and amp meters.
  • Knowledge in the following areas a plus: Medical device, Quality systems, Manufacturing processes

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software, Project Management software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software. The individual should also have a working knowledge of computers and be able to troubleshoot computer related problems.
